Mrs. Jamie Holt
I've been involved with Lakeview Academy for the last eight years as a parent of (now five) children who have been enrolled there. I appreciate the vision of the school to make each child's educational program unique by incorporating varied teaching methods as outlined in the school's charter.
I was born in San Jose, California and moved to St. George, Utah as a youth. I served on the Executive Council of our High School as Elections and Eligibilities Chair (which means I was responsible for every voting, polling, and graduation requirement that went on in the school.) It was tough to know the out come of cheerleading tryouts for days and not be able to tell my friends, but that is just part of who I am. If I know something to be true, or understand a rule as it is given...I just can't break it. So needless to say I didn't have many friends by graduation time.
I graduated and had many different jobs such as Manager of Bass Shoe store, Manager of Van Heusen outlet, and Secretary for the Emergency Department at Dixie Regional.
While working full time I was enrolled part time at Dixie State for a year and then served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Upon returning home I met my husband (through comical means by his father to line us up) and married the handsome hunk shortly there after; almost seventeen years ago! Time flies when you're having fun!
We moved to Salt Lake and I worked at Primary Children's hospital for years in the Immunocompromised Unit (think liver transplants and children battling cancer) before starting a family.
I went back to school after my fourth daughter was born and earned my Associate of Science degree with High Honors; something I am proud of as I was raising four children at the time and was pregnant with the fifth.
Now that all five kids are in school, I'm enrolled at UVU in the Bachelors program for Photography and enjoy many, many creative outlets when my time allows. But my family has always come first, then my endeavors, and then sleep. (Any parent can relate to that I am sure;)
If I had to tell you just one thing about me as a person, (now that you are two chapters into my life) it would be my deep love for Jesus Christ and his gospel here on the earth which gives me opportunities to serve in my community and reach out to my family around the world. I am involved in Family History work that regularly keeps me up until after searching for my deceased ancestors. It's more of an addiction than a hobby!
I hope who I am, the life I have lived so far, would be beneficial to Lakeview Academy as I look for opportunities to serve the school and it's board.
