104 Science, Arts, and Technology Ends Policy

Policy Title: Science, Arts, and Technology

Effective: February 9, 2017

 

Lakeview Academy will place a special emphasis on science, the arts, and technology.  This will be accomplished by incorporating technology in the classroom, focusing on science and providing an opportunity for all students to participate and appreciate the arts.

 

Accordingly:

  1. Students will demonstrate proficiency in science, as measured by the following:

    1. Each year all students will demonstrate adequate mastery of science principles during a science enhancement event. This will be measured annually by direct observation by the Board of Trustees.

    2. Among students who take the state mandated testing, proficiency goals will be met when 85% of students achieve a score of proficient or higher. The Board of Trustees will monitor through state mandated testing reports.

  2. Students will demonstrate proficiency in the arts, as measured by the following:

    1. Students will have the opportunity to express themselves artistically in the classroom and in extra-curricular activities.  Throughout the year all students in grades kindergarten through ninth will demonstrate adequate mastery of a broad range of art concepts during a Show What You Know event. This will be measured by direct observation by the Board of Trustees.

  3. Students will have an understanding and working knowledge of current technology, as measured by the following:

    1. Throughout the year all students in grades kindergarten through ninth will demonstrate adequate mastery of a broad range of technology concepts during a Show What You Know event. This will be measured by direct observation by the Board of Trustees.
